  • Participants should have previously compiled a kernel for a standard desktop (non-embedded) Linux system.
  • Understanding the components that make up the Linux userspace in a desktop environment is essential.
  • Familiarity with generating and applying patches is required.
  • The ability to articulate the role of GNU Make, Autotools, and other existing build systems is expected.
  • It is ideal if participants maintain at least one Linux package, whether as an upstream contributor or within a traditional desktop distribution.
  • While prior embedded development experience is not mandatory, it cannot replace the foundational knowledge of traditional Linux desktop systems outlined above.
